Envirotread™ FRP Composite Boardwalk Reconstruction

After a large storm damaged of the original timber structure at Snapper Point in South Australia, an all-encompassing EnviroTREAD™ FRP Composite Boardwalk System was installed to provide a corrosion resistant and zero maintenance solution.

Treadwell worked closely with a reputed and well-established construction company to supply fully engineered composite products for the council. The package included detailed design, third party professional engineering and supplying the associated ancillary materials and complete structures. The comprehensive package provided a peace of mind and an easier install for all stakeholders.

The site access of this structure was limited to only access being 200 metres north. It meant that materials had to be transported by a 5-tonne excavator. Due to the light weight nature of FRP, it was ideal compared to the other traditional materials like timber or steel.

Our EnviroTREAD™ FRP Composite Boardwalk System can be customised to suit any application. Customised colours were specified for this particular project for all the materials. We were also tasked to manufacture the pedestrian grade (wet, barefoot friendly) anti-slip surface on the grating.

The composite boardwalk at Snapper Point Beach is a fine example of one of the many projects that we have been delivered within the contractual time frames and on budget.
